Two eggs!

Hi All,
Just wanted to update with the news that the eagles have laid a second egg! This is great news. Check out the webcam. Also, you may want to look into BRI's newly launched webcam membership program located at this site:

  1. Wonderful! I logged on to the site this a.m. Mama is there on the eggs! However, I am having a problem in that the live cam only stays on for about 2 seconds at the most and then cuts back to a still picture only. Is there a problem?? I have the most up to date Media Player in my machine. Would appreciate some suggestions.

  2. live cam does not appear to be working

is different from 15sec shots, seems to be the same footage over and over, only lasts 17 sec

do i need to make a change in a setting or is it the feed?

    thanks, eJane

  3. I'm having same problem as some of the previous posts. Webcam for #2 only stays on for 2 seconds. But this has been happening for weeks and no one replies as to the problem.

The live feed has always been sporadic with stops and starts. However, this morning it has a new trick. It stops ... when I restart I get a replay instead of actual live feed. I keep seeing the same few seconds of footage over and over and the video does not match the update image.

  5. This is exactly the problem I am having as stated by Anonymous at 04/04 @ 12:15. Somebody please help us.

  6. I have never had any live feed at all from this web cam 2 Cam 1 is fine but unfortunately no sign of the eagles.

  7. I'm getting frustrated with this site because no one at BRI seems to be paying attention to the problems. JAM in IL is right about the "live" video just being a repeat for the 2 seconds we get connected. There is no "live" feed.

Can anyone tell me how to post? The only thing I seem to be able to use is Google account and it shows me as Leo. Don't know who Leo is.

  8. 3:36 Saturday April 4th and it's the same here, unable to get continuing live stream. This is peggymaine in South Portland. I'm trying to post this account and now here we go again: if you think I have a clue what type my profile is, just having paid up for membership yesterday, enrolled in and being pretty active on Eagle1 cam--- A lot of us are older, love this stuff, will BUY things from you and support BRI. But faced with this kind of barricade will just as soon turn on our heels and leave if we are expect to know if we are Google, LiveJournal, WorldPress, Type pad or AIM. I'm trying to us Anonymous now.

The video feed is stalled and has been for about 5 minutes. When it does come back, it sounds like it's pouring rain. Does anybody know what that noise is? If you hit the refresh button, the feed comes back for just a couple of seconds.

The side view cam has shifted - can only see head shots at the moment. I am sure our hard working eagle experts are working on these problems, but I feel your pain. It's hard not to see the live feed or hear the audio when some of us who worked all week looked forward so much to the weekend to see the eagles.

To peggymaine: I couldn't figure out that stuff either, so I picked "anonymous" and then signed my name in the blog itself - welcome.
Thank you for your membership - you beat me. All of our support will keep the cameras on.

As a viewer from years past, I can say that these problems get fixed quickly. I'm taking a deep breath, making a cup of coffee, saying a little prayer, and watching the still cam.

  12. The problems at this site are technical ones that we cannot fix - Relax and know that the BRI will fix their end of things as soon as they can. In the mean time, we can all work on our computer skills. peggymaine I'm here for you, Kit

    Re posting -

The easiest for me is to use "Select profile" found in Comment As: which is located under the blank space. Click on the down arrow. As most choices were confusing to me, I select Anonymous. One click will place it as the Comment As choice. As with Liz in Maine, I sign each post before clicking on Post Comment.

For some, a code word will appear and you must type it exactly in the space indicated.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, BRI will fix things as quickly as they can. Hang in there.

  14. I have all the confidence in the world that BRI WILL fix the (which I believe) are small problems. We are VERY fortunate to be able to witness birds in the wild, so, we have a few problems, a few hiccups. Viewing live video is very nice, yes, but, I would be happy to watch it with in a 15 sec. intervals. BE PATIENT, PLEASE. I have been viewing this site for many years now, and will continue to do so, live feed or not.

I agree with everyone who said BRI will fix it all and we have to be patient. We're all going to have a great experience watching the progress. It's too bad the pair on the coast is taking the year off but watching this family grow will make up for it. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

  16. When I try to use "anonymous" I get message that says "your request could not be processed. Please try again". What do you think is wrong?

It is night now and dark on the still nest pictures. However, the "live feed" is daylight and the same exact picture I have been seeing on it for the last week. I'm sorry to say I have never seen the live feed work on this nest. Am a long time viewer of the other nest and though we had some problems nothing as long as this.

  17. Wonderful news Pat! Sean just called to inform me of what was going on.

  18. Although it is night time in ME, the live cam shows an eagle on the nest...during the day. How can this be? Please advise. Thanks.

Live feed is OFF on Eagle cam #2
Where, is this Eagle nest? What state? Time difference of three hours
    Still dark outside.
Only seeing a repeat video for a few seconds and then it cuts out

Unfortunately, the live feed is still sending the same replay noted yesterday. Luckily, the stills are updating, although one of them has moved to a mostly sky view.

Hopefully the technical glitch will be fixed in time for the arrival of a possible third egg tomorrow.

A reminder to all: The auto time stamp is not correct ... please add the day and time of your post. Makes it a lot easier seeing an accurate sequence of observations. Thanks.

  21. to D&amp: The Eagle2 cam is on the Kennebec River in Maine. We are having
technical difficulties with the cameras, please be patient. The biologists are aware of this problem I am sure. They are very busy this time of year.

Just checked in for the first time today, what is with the sticks on top of the Mama eagle? How did that happen, did anybody happen to observe this when it happened?

She is in an awkward position again. Don't know if it is raining.
Perhaps another egg is on the way!

The problem with the live feed must be serious.

Have not caught eagle off the nest to search for third egg ... maybe we will see one tomorrow.

Maybe she is waiting to lay the third egg live ........

  32. Oops. I composed a reply saying thanks to those who posted so many soothing comments while I was so frustrated over the weekend, and it has vanished. Poof! Perhaps it will show up here and this message will prove redundant, but it is just wonderful having the live webcam2 up and running and to Kit and other Anonymous empathetic friends, my e-mail is mwescot1@maine.rr.com. (I don't see anyone's e-mail on the blog.)
Best to all from peggymaine who is not normally a grinch!

17:25 - My sound is definitely not working properly ... still only the whoosh sound even though the incubating eagle looks like it has been calling. No sound of eagle chatter came through. However, the second eagle arrived.

17:30 Unfortunately, I hit the wrong thing and lost the feed. Still two eagles ... one incubating, one headless on the branch behind. Don't know if I missed an exchange.

17:32 - Whoops ... both eagles gone. Still only two eggs. Now one back in the bowl. Cannot see the other.

Gosh. I actually thought I had figured out a way to tell the difference as I see a dark spot on the forehead just above the beak. Wrong!! The wind is blowing so hard it is separating the feathers ... duh! Oh well, when they are side by side I can tell the male from the female.

Perhaps we will only have two eaglets. Don't know if she will lay another egg much later than today as age and size can make a big difference for survival.

  34. I am a substitute teacher and I have gotten kids in two different schools to see the eagles so far. Last week the high school kids tuned in just in time to see the egg that had been laid the previous day, and the changing of the guard. Today we saw both eggs in 4th grade. So exciting! I haven't tuned in since the Patriot's Day storm 2 years ago killed the week-old chicks on the other nest. Too heartbroken to go through that again, until now. The live video is working fine right now. Yes!

  35. well i finally made it in here to say i have live feed. I am so excited.I have also seen the eagle at the other nest but only for a min or two. I can't wait to see the eggs

  36. April 8 - 7:3;7

The live feed is working fine this morning and one Eagle is on the nest. Is anyone else having trouble with the audio. All I can hear is what sounds like pouring rain. When the Eagle is calling out, I can see an open beak but no Eagle sounds and there aren't any sounds of other birds coming through at all.

  40. Neither still or live cam at #2 site are operating today.

As for eaglecam #1, I agree that frequent human activity in the area has once again caused the eagles to shy away from this nest site.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 04/09 @ 20:36

Strange happenings with the cams today. No change in the still updates. However, I have had two occasions when "live" feed seemed to kick in and freeze. Once there was a single eagle incubating ... a little later the position in the nest had changed.

19:46 - 2 eagles were in the nest. Image stayed for a short while before it disappeared.

    As I mentioned, strange.

I have the live feed activated and it sits there with a black screen and occasional burst of whoosh/static audio and, then, an image sometimes appears.

    Am I hallucinating??
