Hi All,
I am happy to report the continued growth of the eagle chicks. I have made two visits to the nest site in an effort to solve some of our technical issues...to no avail yet. However, I have been able to capture live footage on those visits which I have posted and will continue to post on our website at . Please watch these and keep up to date with the uploading 15-sec images as best you can. It is going to be incredible to watch these birds develop over the next 8-10 weeks.

4:18 am est - Instant update image top is stuck at 8:09 pm est from 5/21. Bottom image, eagle appears to be nestled in.
ReplyDeleteBRI...thanks for bringing us these terrific images. I've never seen 'live' eaglets before and this is just wonderful. I know the live stream problems are (clearly) giving you some headaches, but the updated stills are a good substitute. Thanks again.

ReplyDeleteBRI is obviously aware that the images are stuck. All the updating of times when images are frozen in the world won't help it be remedied any more quickly. Please try to enjoy what you get, instead of constantly filling the forum with the updates stating times when it's observed that the images are stuck. We all want the live feed back. Just be patient.

Dear Judy, the way the BRI Blog worked in the past was that we would report anything to BRI communicating through this thread. Sorry if you misunderstood the reason for posting about the images not working. BRI has always asked viewers to post this info in the past. Also I am aware the the streaming satellite is null and void at this point. It did state enjoy the images and as a form of communication since the upper image is down for as long as it was this past weekend, I felt communication was necessary. Again that is what BRI liked us to do in the past. It has nothing to do with patience. Just following up like we always did on Maine Cam1 before MaineCam2 was available. It is obvious that bloggers have changed the threads as a type of communication to BRI on all aspects of the cam, so I won't bother anymore. No sense wasting my time, if it isn't appreciated. Thank you for your post.

ReplyDeleteOh, my ... wish things could be running smoothly here. Nice thing about the cam comment availability is the exchange of observations and information available to and from all.
I, for one, appreciate posts indicating a time frame as I can then verify what I have observed and post appropriately. Often nice to see that the malfunction is universal and not just with my computer.
The babies are growing by leaps and bounds and I am delighted with each glimpse. I also would love a tight zoom of the nest now and again ... don't know if that is possible without functioning live stream.

ReplyDeleteFirst, I am sorry about the previous double posting. I don’t blog very often.
Second, concerning the 2006 blog. We were BRI’s assistants. We kept them up to date as to what was happening in and around the nest and that included telling them when the EagleCam was down. We didn’t sit around saying “Keep up the good work” when things weren’t working properly. They told us to “Keep up the good work!” We helped them and they kept us informed and answered our questions. Please, let’s get along and do our job. Of course, we don’t want to habitually harp on the failings of the feed but just keep BRI up to date. Perhaps the quotes below will help explain the reason for this cam.

Upper image not working at 8:47 am but not to worry, eaglets were doing just great yesterday. They are just wet and probably very tired. They also have had their breakfast this morning and both ate.

ReplyDelete(Perhaps, this information will help the techs.) Update was working yesterday if you finessed it. The picture and time would not update if the program was left open. The updates were only 2 to 3 min. behind the time if the internet was closed out and then opened again in just a few seconds. That process does not work now. Upper screen still registers “2009-05-30, 08:27:51 am” EDT regardless of how many times you close out the program and reopen it. Notice also, the blog times are still 3 hours off. Of course, that isn’t crucial to our observations but it does make necessary our noting the time of our observations for the field notes.
Ok all...I understand letting BRI know when the cameras are not working properly. However, updating when they are obvioulsy not able to do anything to change what's happening is sort of like repeating yourself. My observation was that they know things are not working. Updating about the cameras is something we need to do for them when they've come to the point of trying to get them back to functioning. At this point, I doubt they are able to do anything, and the live feed will not work until the issues are solved. The stills will be sporadic until they can address that.
ReplyDeleteI think what BRI wants us to do is let them know what's happening in the nest with the birds, not so much that the stills are not working right. Again, no hard feelings and I apologize if I stepped on anyone's toes. I just don't see the need for hour by hour updates that the live or stills are not working, when they already know that. Especially with the feeds as they are, observations about the activity in the nest with the birds is what people like to read about.
Maybe when BRI gets to the point of repairing live feed, or makes the adjustment to the stills and are in the process of restoring that, then they can ask for feedback on how they are working. Just a thought...Again, sorry if I may have over-stepped my bounderies. My intent was not to upset anyone.

I have noticed that these two eaglets aren't as active as what I have seen in the past from other nests. They seem to sleep more than other eaglets. But they sure do look healthy and parents have been wonderful.
No sunset. I wonder why? Sky is white. Eaglets were just fed by parent. They are getting bigger everyday.

If you are speaking of the live stream, it is not available. The only way to enjoy these eagles is through the instant images.

ReplyDeleteNoticed 'MB' in on-line cam community reporting same problem I experienced this morning...couldn't connect to briloon.org at all through IE, but, and this is the weird part, I could do it through AOL. EagleCam2 was still stuck on the 8th though. Around noon, suddenly it updated while I was monitoring it through AOL's browser, and voila...now connecting perfectly through IE again. I even got the latest IE8 and updated JAVA...nothing worked for IE until automagically all is right with the world. My, how the kids have grown in the last 3 days. :)

As far as the instant images, it isn't your browser or JAVA. It is on BRI's end.
BRI Please move the lower image closer - even only for a little while. Please!
ReplyDeleteYep...I know it's not my browser or Java that affects the stuck images. My point was I, just as MB complained, was also unable to even connect to Briloon.org this morning, through my IE browser. I could, however, get to Briloon through my AOL browser...probably AOL cached the page. And when I finally got an instant image update around noon, I was able to connect through IE again. I mostly posted it in case the Briloon techs wanted to know, and to let MB know it happened to me too. No doubt MB and I were trying to connect to a different server than those who had no problems connecting. That might be noteworthy as they troubleshoot.
ReplyDeleteAt 1:26 (6/11/09) today there was a Falcon at the nesting site, could not make out if the baby or Mom but was nice to see someone at "home". Also wanted to say that I was able to watch the banding of the baby Falcon on the "feature Videos". I posted this info on the blog but now see that alot of the post that everyone has left the past weeks are gone. !!!!!

Now I am not only missing the rapidly changing eaglets but my morning serenity as well! Yikes.

Really weird how these images are so different. One stuck from nighttime. The other it appears to be daylight with a clock changing the time but no movement at all.

Has anyone been watching the Ospreys' nest? A single chick hatched over the weekend but the second egg hasn't hatched and now - I hate to be the bearer of bad news - it looks like the chick has now died...!! it sure made me and a coworker verrrry sad... he/she was such a cutie!! It looked fine yesterday... with the good(being able to view) comes the bad. Patrick/Wing any ideas as to what might have been the problem? Thanks, Carole in MN. 6-12-09 2:00PM
ReplyDeleteI also noticed that the Osprey chick and unhatched egg have been abandoned. The chick is laying on the edge of the nest, motionless. Very, very sad. I understand that this is part of nature and happens all the time, but very hard to watch. I watched the Finches hatch, grow and fly away and then truly enjoyed watching "Little Fiesty" grow and take flight. Liked watching the Osprey as the live feed was good, but will now focus solely on the Eagles and hope the cameras get fixed.

Well it was fun for awhile. Upper Image stuck again at 15:33:51. Eaglets doing fine despite the rain. Did see some great wing excercises.
